Web Analytics

Today I came across the term Web Analytics. One of our  team presented a small introduction about Web Analytics. They explained about what they do in Web Analytics part from providing the web site statictics regarding the web site like network traffic, frequently visited page and poorly designed pages. They told they will analyze the stats and come up with ideas to improve regarding the usabliity and also provide promotion of web site through Email Marketing and Internet marketing.

They said Web Analytics can be done using programmaticlly using javascript and also can be analyzed by using the log files created by the web server.

I think stat counter(statcounter.com) is such example which gives comprehensive coverage regarding the web site.
