Visit to Srimushnam and Thirukovillur

Since it was holiday(02-Oct-08) yesterday on account of Gandhi Jayanthi we started from around 6.15 AM from our house to Srimushnam. We reached around 11.45 AM to the temple we had very good dharsan of Sri Boovaragaswami. This is one of the 8 temples which is self created representing varaha avathar. The moolaavar is very small appearing in the form of Boar.
Srimushnam is around 240 KMS from Chennai and from Virdhachalam it is around 20 Kms.

While returing back we visited Thirukovillur Sri Thiruvikaramar temple it was great view of Perumal standing with one leg and another leg facing the sky. This is one of the divya desa temple and it is where naalariya divya prabandham orginated. The first 3 alwars recited the prabandham here.

The morning break fast at Hotel Brindavan was not good and we had lunch at Hotel Archana in Virdahchalam that too was not good and in the night we had food at Motel High way which was good.

Sri Ramayanam by Sri U Ve Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy

Yesteray(23-Mar-08) I got chance to listen to Sri U VeVelukkudi Krishnan Swamy lecture on Ramayanam. The lecture on Ramayanam is for 9 consecutive days inVani Mahal T.Nagar.
http://www.kinchitkaramtrust.org/upanyasamListForGeneral.action
First time when I listened to his lecture on upanishad, it was bouncers to me. Sri U Ve VelukkudiKrishnan Swamy is CA gold medalist and have held several high postions before he plunged into spirtuality. The amount of knowledge he possess is quite staggering. Today some people say Ramayanam,Mahabharatam is myth but Sri U Ve Velukkudi KrishnanSwamy lecture is a fitting answer to those.
Some of facts, he talked on yesterday session partfrom the slogams.
1) Ramayanam took place nearly 16 lakh years back
2) We are in Kali Yuga approx. 5300 Years is completedin this, still 5,27,000 years is yet to be completedin Kali Yuga.
3) Ramayana has around 24,000 slogams. Mahabharatamhas around 2 lakh slogams.
4) Valmiki wrote Ramayana based on the inputs fromNarathar & Brahma.
5) Ithikasam like Ramayanam & Mahabharatam are writtenduring the period the event has occured . Purams like Vishnu puranam etc are written after theoccurance of the event.
6) Sri Ramar went to Vana vasam at the age of 25 andat the age of 40, he back came and ruled Ayodha for14,000 years.
7) At the end of 14,000 years Ramar reached paramapadam.
8) Sita reached parama padam when Lava & kucha was 6years old.
9) Valmiki started writing Ramayana when Sri Ramar wasaround 40 yrs old. Lava & Kucha was born after 10,000years after that only Valmiki did complete the SriRamayanam.
10) The main lessons from Ramayana is to treat ourparents well and Sri Ramar showed how a
person shouldbe, while Sri Krishnar gave lecture in gita based onRamayanam.

Note: The exact years mentioned above may not match asI remember only a few.

A Trip to Malai Naadu Thirupathi

We began the new year with a bang by visiting the Malai Naadu Thirupathis. We covered 12 temples of the 13 temples(One covered already covered as part of the earlier trip). We booked our journey through travel times(based on Mount Road, chennai). We started on 13-Jan-08 reached Thirussur around 2.00 AM and in the morning we covered 2 temples(Tirunaavai, Tiruvithuvakkodu) and also visited guruvayoor and in Ernakulum we covered 2 temples(Tirukkatkarai, Tirumoozhikkalam) and in changanessery we covered Tiruvallavaazh, Tirukkadittaanam,Tiruppuliyur, Tiruvanvandur ,Tiruchenkunroor and in trivandrum we covered Tiruvanantapuram temple and Tiruvattar(in Tamil Nadu 75 KMS from trivandrum)

Here are the 12 temple which we visited.

The above 2 temples are in Tamil Nadu but following Kerala style of workship.

Note: In the 11 Temples in Kerala , find the equivalent name of temple\places in Malayalam to identify the places quicker. Please check the temple timings before starting to any temples. The thumb rule is that always start early and visit the temple. Generally temples will be opened from 4.30 AM to 11.30 AM and evening 5 PM to 8.00 PM this will vary based on the places.

It was personal statisifaction to me as covered 90 Divya Desams of the 108. 9 more in north & 7 more in South in Tamil Nadu. 2 temples are not present in this world.

Thanking Sri Ramanuja & Lord Vishnu for making the Malai Naadu Thirupathi a grand success.

Sri Velukkudi Krishanan -AZHWARGAL KAATTIYA BAKTHI NERI

After listening to Sri Velukkudi Krishanan "AZHWARGAL KAATTIYA BAKTHI NERI", I become huge fan of him. The way he explains about 12 Azhwars is really good, I upload some of the mp3 files into my ipod shuffle and keep listening it again & again. It was real eye opener for me interms of what Bakthi is all about. The amount of knowledge he posseses on the Bhagavad gita, Nalayira Dhivya Prabhandam is really stunning. I wish I could learn something from him.

Being a Vaishnavite, I feel ashamed not knowing Nalayira Dhivya Prabhandam byheart.

Must listen for every one irrespective of age group.
